Although
our vessel the ENCOUNTER II is available for specific trips
to particular locations, all tours are made by arrangement with
the client. Our most popular destination is Kangaroo Island's
Ante Chamber Bay as it is a most scenic and interesting trip that
is accessible in all but the worst weather conditions. Weather
conditions do dictate the direction and destination of the day,
but the fact that Backstairs Passage is scenic and protected from
various weather angles more than compensates. To anyone not familiar
with the locale our advice is to leave the details to the skipper
on the day.
The
day begins at 7:30am at the Cape Jervis landing and ends at approximately
4:00pm. Rods & tackle, bait, ice are supplied. Customers generally
bring their own lunch and drinks, but by prior arrangement any
situation can be catered for.
At $175 per day per person (5-7 people only per
trip) any day is available provided it is not booked. Be aware
though that weekends are the most popular time to tour. We can
also arrange composite parties of pairs or individuals all though
these are less frequent.
If you wish to purchase a fishing
day as a present, gift vouchers are available
WE SUPPLY large ice boxes, gaffs, nets, basic tackle and
baits including pilchards, cockles and squid. Special arrangements
are made prior to the trip.
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING lunch and any drinks you may prefer,
sunburn cream and sunglasses, weatherproof or other suitable clothing.
Don't forget your camera!
TACKLE
SUGGESTIONS (if you bring your own): There are two rods that
cover nearly all types of fishing here. One of 10kg capacity spooled
with 10-15kg line, using any reel you prefer, is suitable for
Snapper. Various leads up to 1 kg are recommended, as are hooks
sizes 3-0 to 6-0. A rod with a whippy end is suitable for whiting,
sweep and for flicking lures to salmon. I recommend an eggbeater
reel spooled with 4-6kg line with a large swivel to which can
be attached various lines and bottoms that will cover all situations
here.
